How long does the GreenScan 3D process take?
With two to three days of good weather we can collect data on an 18 hole course. It will then take 2 weeks to process the data and to provide it to you in a usable format, whether you require AutoCad files or paper printouts.
How accurate is GreenScan 3D?
GreenScan 3D is by far the most accurate method available for restoring or replicating greens. We work from a 6 inch grid, while traditional surveyors work from a 10 foot grid. Our data collection is fully automated, so there is no room for human error. And because our technology is designed for the utmost in detail and accuracy, every square inch of your greens can be returned to within 2 millimeters of their original elevations.
Over the years, our collars have taken over as much as 24 inches of green that once existed. Can you help us reclaim it?
Absolutely. If you let us know in advance that this is a problem for you, we'll scan extra area around your putting surface. Then, when we're processing the data, we'll make the adjustments you've requested.
Will scanning my greens interrupt play?
Not at all. In most cases, players won´t even notice we´re on site because the scanner can be placed up to 150 feet from the playing surface.
How does the cost of your service compare to traditional methods?
GreenScan 3D costs $500 per green, about the same as traditional surveying.
Why do you say GreenScan 3D is more accurate than traditional surveying?
Our scanner gathers data from up to 14,400 points per square foot during an initial scan. Once that data is processed, we deliver digital data for for use during the restoration process with points just 6 inches apart. This massive amount of information, used with a Robotic Total Station, yields precise grade control, removing the possibility of human error. Only GreenScan 3D allows an exact replication of the greens your members have grown to love.
A traditional surveyor sets points across your green a full 10 feet apart and leaves vast areas open to interpretation… and disagreement… when it´s time to regrade and finish your greens. And sadly, the finished greens may not even be close to the originals.
How difficult is it to learn the Robotic Total Station? And what is the cost?
We can train your Superintendent, his staff or your contractor to work with our data and the Robotic Total Station in an afternoon. It´s actually fairly simple. Rental of the device is about $500 per week, and our day rate for training is $1000 per day.
What is Grade Control?
Grade Control is the process of comparing the scanned data to existing grades as you rebuild. The Robotic Total Station will compare the two sets of data and give accurate cut/fill information for every inch of your putting surface, ensuring accurate replication of your original green.
How far will you travel to provide your services?
Worldwide.
Why should my club use GreenScan 3D for new construction?
When your architect completes your project, the greens are perfect. Unfortunately, they won´t stay that way, and at some point all greens need to be rebuilt. If we scan your greens when they´re first built, you´ll have an accurate archival record of your greens´ specifications from now on. Then, no matter how many times you rebuild your greens in the future, you´ll be able to honor your architect´s inspiration by restoring his greens to original specifications each and every time.
What do you charge for restoration?
If you would like for us to do so, we can restore your greens to finish grade for 35 cents per square foot. This cost is comparable to an average contractor, but because we´re experts in the use of our technology and have decades of experience in golf course construction, we can provide the most accurate restoration you´ll find.
